TRENDS FOR YOUR WINDOWS

There’s so many choices out there when it comes to window furnishings, it can be hard to know where to begin. That’s why you call in the professionals like MTC! There’s some gorgeous trends for your windows, and we wanted to show you what’s new and fabulous.
CURTAINS

Think curtains are so 10 years ago? Think again! While previous years have seen simple and functional treatments like roller blinds taking precedence, now people are calling for the softness of curtains. Don’t get us wrong, roller blinds are still as popular as ever, but they just don’t compare with the light, thermal and acoustic control a curtain can offer… plus they are far more decorative! The s-fold or wave fold curtain has given home owners the ability to have curtains that look modern and sleek.
LINEN-LOOK FABRICS

Linen is having the resurgence of a lifetime right now! It’s stunningly beautiful, but has a huge number of drawbacks when used for making curtains and blinds (You can read all about it here). Our suppliers have produced amazing polyester fabrics that look just like linen, but are far more stable and versatile, not to mention easier on your wallet.
ROMAN BLINDS

Roman blinds are the decorative cousin of roller blinds, and they are fast becoming our best selling style of blind. Apart from decoration, they provide excellent insulation and have the ability to block far more light than other blind styles.
COLOUR TRENDS

Grey and white have dominated the marketplace for the last few years, but now we are seeing a resurgence of warmer tones… not quite the beiges of the early 2000’s, but a softer ‘greige’ hybrid. We have also seen a lot of forest green and mustard, along with the gorgeous blush pink, teal and blues we’ve already been loving for a while now. It’s lovely to see a bit of colour!
PELMETS

Clients are becoming obsessed with concealing their blind rolls and curtain tracks, and we’ve been seeing many newly built homes with recessed cavities above their windows to accomodate their window coverings. But not everyone has the ability to do so. Pelmets act to conceal unsightly tracking, brackets and blind rolls while giving extra light and thermal control. For an updated look, we suggest a plain fabric upholstered pelmet with contrast piping for extra definition.
