BMAA SUPER EXPO 2019
We’ve just returned from the sunny Gold Coast and The BMAA (Blinds Manufacturers Association of Australia) Super Expo! It was an opportunity for industry professionals to see & share what’s new and innovative in window coverings. It was a fantastic trip and we’ve seen some things that we think you’ll be as excited about as we are! Here’s our pick from the BMAA Super Expo 2019!
FABRICS TO MATCH YOUR DULUX COLOURS
Yes, you read correctly… these specialised blind fabrics are matched to actual Dulux colours! We’ve had the plain fabrics for a while, but there’ll be some great patterns coming out soon.
AUTOMATION AT SOMFY
Somfy are world leaders in home automation, and have the best motorisation options in the window coverings market.
Their latest product is the quietest wireless blind & curtain motorisation system available. This means near-silence and no need for an electrician to hard-wire your window coverings. All you need to do is plug in and recharge the motors when they’re low on power!
Somfy have also developed technologies allowing your window coverings to be controlled by your electronic devices, including smartphones, tablets, Google Home, Alexa & Siri.
LASER CUTTING TABLES
These have technically been around for a few years, but the technology is fascinating! Cutting blind fabrics by laser means ultra precise measurements and edges that won’t fray!
STUNNING NEW FABRIC RANGES
This was the first year that saw a number of fabric suppliers exhibiting at Super Expo. There were some lovely ranges, but we were most impressed by the Basford Brands stand. Their collection included sheers, velvets, plains, patterns, dim-outs and more!
ZIPSCREEN
One of our awesome shutter suppliers is now offering exterior roller blinds by Zipscreen. We are waiting on more information, but from what we’ve seen, they are the perfect product to protect your outdoor entertaining from the elements.
OTHER EVENTS
The expo wasn’t the only activity of the weekend; we had a wonderful awards evening with Versosol, a spectacular evening at the BMAA Gala Dinner, and a little fun exploring Surfer’s Paradise.
