MOTORISATION

We are frequently being asked about motorisation for blinds and curtains. The technologies for automated window coverings are constantly evolving and improving, and we are committed to bringing you the newest and best systems to suit your home.

Below are some pros and cons of motorised window coverings to help you decide if it's something you'd like to explore for your window treatments.

PROS

No ugly chains or cords. This also means your blinds and curtains will be 100% child and pet safe with no risk of strangulation.

Hard-to-reach windows and skylights are easily operated.

Easily move treatments on expansive windows.

Integrate your window coverings into your CBUS or similar home automation system, or power individual treatments with a remote control.

Easy operation – just a press of a button.

If you choose our top quality Somfy motors, your blinds can be controlled from the Somfy MyLink app across your devices.

CONS

Motorisation can be a costly exercise, with extra upfront costs for motors & installation.

Some types of motors can be bulky and difficult to conceal.

Costly to repair. Larger and frequently operated window treatments will consume batteries at a rapid rate. But stay tuned… one of our suppliers is working on a solution to this problem!

Blackouts & power surges will mean your blinds are inoperable until an expert (like our Somfy-trained partners at Faraday Group) can service them.
