FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are a number of things we get asked at almost every consultation, so we thought we'd share our answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.
Q. AN YOU ALTER/REPAIR MY EXISTING CURTAINS?
A. No. We aren't able to offer an alteration service at this time, unless the window treatments were originally purchased through More Than Curtains.
Q. I'VE MEASURED THE WINDOWS MYSELF... CAN YOU GIVE ME A QUOTE OVER THE PHONE OR VIA EMAIL?
A. No. The reason we have a free in-home measure and quote service is because there are so many variables with custom made window coverings. For instance, you may want a roller blind on a large window, but will need two to cover the expanse rather than just one.
Fabric selections are also critical as they can range anywhere from $30 per metre to $130 per metre, which will also affect the pricing. If you want a quality job, you'll need to set aside the time for an appointment with us... you'll probably enjoy it!
Q. WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE?
A. We love Australian made products! All our curtains, blinds, bedding & soft furnishings are all made locally, no further away than Melbourne. Our shutters are made in China, in an Australian owned and operated factory with exceptional working conditions.
Q. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FROM ORDER TO INSTALLATION?
A. This depends on the products you are ordering. Generally curtains, blinds and other soft furnishings have a turnaround time of 4 weeks, while shutters can take 6-8 weeks. Timeframes can often increase during busy periods such as pre-Christmas.
Q. AREN'T CURTAINS A BIT 'OLD FASHIONED'?
A. Not at all! We adore curtains, and would certainly recommend them for modern and contemporary décor styles! Don't believe us? Have a look at our image galleries for plenty of examples.
Q. DO YOU OFFER A WARRANTY ON YOUR PRODUCTS?
A. We sure do! All products manufactured & installed by MTC are covered by a minimum 3-year warranty. Our hardwood plantation shutters are covered by an amazing 15-year structural warranty!
Q. DO YOU CARRY ANY 100% LINEN FABRICS
A. No. Linen is a temperamental fabric that will expand and contract with changing humidity, causing your curtains or blinds to shrink or expand... or both!
But we do carry plenty of alternatives that either look identical to linen, or contain some linen. this way you can have the look without the trouble (or the hearty price tag!)
Q. YOUR WEBSITE HAS A LOT OF IMAGES. ARE THEY YOUR OWN WORK?
A. YES! Every image on our website is of work completed by MTC. We've invested in an excellent camera so we can keep our image galleries updated with our own work, rather than showing stock images from our suppliers.
Q. I HAD A QUOTE FROM ANOTHER COMPANY, AND THEY INCLUDED 'EXTRAS' IN THEIR QUOTE. WHAT ARE YOUR EXTRAS?
A. We don't have any 'bonus extras' on our quotations, because those items are standard issue with our products! We will always include child safety devices where necessary, as well as lift assist on larger roller blinds. Our hand-drawn curtains are always fitted with clear perspex 'flick sticks' at an appropriate length to prevent unnecessary handling of fabric. We even lubricate your curtain tracks onsite when needed.
Q. DO YOU OFFER A 'SUPPLY ONLY' SERVICE WHERE I CAN INSTALL MY WINDOW COVERINGS MYSELF??
A. No. If our products are installed by an installer not employed by More Than Curtains, we can't apply our full warranty to the window coverings.
Q. CAN WINDOW COVERINGS HELP REDUCE MY ENERGY BILLS?
A. Absolutely! Homes lose the most energy through their windows. Window coverings can help with the insulation of your home by keeping the heat out in summer, and the warmth in during winter.

Q. HOW DO I CLEAN MY WINDOW COVERINGS?
A. There are plenty of cleaning options, depending on your chosen window coverings. While shutters and Venetian blinds only require wiping with a damp cloth, fabric window treatments can be a little more complicated.
Q: WHY MUST THE CHAINS ON MY BLINDS BE ANCHORED?
A. We are required by law to anchor any loose chains for the purposes of child safety. We will not install blinds unless we have a secure place to anchor the child safety device. If you don't want chains to be anchored, we recommend opting for motorised blinds instead.
Q. WHAT REGIONS DO YOU SERVICE?
A. At this stage, we are happy to take appointments in Sydney's Hills, Inner West, North Shore, Lower Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury. We will consider jobs out of these areas at our discretion. Travel outside the Sydney metropolitan area may incur a consultation fee, redeemable on purchase.
Q. DO YOU SUPPLY FOR COMMERCIAL PROJECTS?
A. Since we are only a small operation, we don't offer a service for commercial window coverings at this time. However, we are more than happy to assist with boutique commercial jobs such as standalone offices.
Q: CAN YOU QUOTE FROM MY FLOORPLAN?
A. while we can determine the dimensions of a window from a floor plan, modern construction isn’t straightforward when it comes to window coverings. Sometimes we can face obstructions such as bulkheads, oversized mullions, winders, and more that can’t be seen from a floorplan. Our free in-home measure and quote service means we can give 100% personalised advice that will result in the best window covering solutions for your home.
